How to create a positive self esteem

Regarding on how to create a positive self esteem I believe that there are two process involved: An external and an internal process.
External process:
It is given by other's people influence, especially when they are involved with you emotionally. For example you may have a parent or a sister or even a friend or a spouse that is constantly critic toward you. This doesn't mean that this person does not care about you. However, this constant criticism can deteriorate your self esteem. Your environment can have a great of influence in helping you to build a positive self esteem.
Internal process.
You create a conclusion about yourself according to your past experiences that will influence your self esteem. If the past experience was positive, your internal dialog will say: "I did it right" , "I am proud", and so on. On the other hand, if the past experience was negative you won't feel good about yourself and your internal dialog will say: "I did it wrong", "I am useless", and so on.
I have learned that there are ways I can handle this situations to help myself to create a positive self esteem:
- To love an accept yourself is your choice. It doesn't depend on other people. Make the choice.
- Accept your strengths and weakness. Nobody is perfect. Acceptance is the key for change.
- Develop a sense of humor. Don't take personally other's opinion and don't take everything is said to you so seriously.
- Pay more attention to the things that make you happy and satisfied. Focus on them.
- Taking responsibility or risks, we all make mistakes and learn from them.
- If a personal relationship isn't working remember that between two people both are responsible for how the relationship is doing.
- Reward yourself of your success, even if you think they are tinny.
- Don't idealize other people or look for their approval.
- Enjoy the present moment.
Remember that you do not always have control on the environment, and you cannot be assertive all the time either. The strong point here is to learn to handle the internal one, witch is the one we can control.
