Overcome low self worth
by Carla Valencia
To overcome low self worth is sometimes difficult. In general people believe that their worthiness depend in their performance or other's opinions.
It is hard to overcome low self worth if you depend on external factors instead of internal ones. You have the tendency to forget that worthiness doesn't come from external factors . When this happens, you live trap in your external world and to overcome low self worth becomes impossible..
Some people suffer low self worth when they are criticized , or make a mistake. Even when they don't achieve the results were looking for after they put a lot of effort in something . Also, by being in a group and other people get more attention.
The best way to overcome low self worth is being conscious. For example, I will take the situation : somebody criticize me.
- I will end up believing that I depend on his/her acceptance of me.
- If I become conscious, I would ask the question: Is it true that my low worthiness depend upon what he/she is saying?.
- If what this person is saying is true?. If it is true I would think about it. However, the fact is that I am worthy regardless of this person is saying. That is the truth.
Most of us had been raised with the belief that if a child did something good, is good. If a child does something wrong, is bad and low. The fact is, that a child is neither good nor bad. The behavior might be considered low or incorrect. But the worthiness doesn't change. Does it sound familiar? Some parents say to their children: you did this , I don't love you anymore. So , the conclusion is: I am not worthy .
You don't have to do anything to earn your worthiness , the belief that your low self worth depends on external factors keep you trap in low self esteem . If you can get in touch with yourself and allow yourself to accept the fact that you are worthy, you are going to be able to overcome this trap .
