Esteem Help : Hidden Beleifs and Goals- by Carla Valencia

There are many things I could mention about what causes low self esteem. Most of the causes can be traced back to when you were a child and the things that you were exposed to and what you were told by the people around you.

When parents and specially authority figures keep saying all the things you could not do, as a child you believed those statements, that will have an adverse effect on your esteem and this can will be carried within you all the way until you are an adult. The good news is that this is not permanent. Building your esteem is an internal process.

One of the things you need to understand is that your esteem is about how you perceive yourself and therefore how you feel about yourself. You create your mindset through your beliefs that support your experience. It would be therefore important to be clear about what your beliefs are.

Make a list of your strengths for example. If one of your strengths is to paint easily and you are not doing so, think about why. Were you told as a child that painting was not important? May be that all artists never have enough money. Or that your brother or sister painted better than you, and so on.

How do you find your hidden beliefs? Let’s take the belief: “ I am sexy’. Now repeat out loud: I Am sexy. IF you think: Well, I m not really sexy. This means that you are not certain that you are sexy. Were this belief came from?. For sure from your past experiences. May be somebody had told you that you are not. Or you look into the mirror and you compare yourself with others and you cannot find yourself sexy. But as Tony Robins says: The past doesn’t equal the future”.

One of the ways to find those negative beliefs is by setting goals. Make a list of your goals. Think about all the beliefs you have around those goals, by doing so you will begin to understand the negativity and messages you were told about them. Once you have spent some time identifying your beliefs, examine each one. Ask the following questions:

How did I learn this idea, and from whom?

How does believing in this idea affect me?

Take each of the messages and release them. Use any technique that you will feel comfortable with. There are many techniques you can use to change your negative beliefs like affirmations, Self Hypnosis EFT Downloads etc.

Boost your esteem now by making a list of goals that will make you feel good. By eliminating the obstacles (negative beliefs around them) you will feel even better when you found that you have actually achieved all your goals.
