Change Your Point of View if you want happiness
by Carla Valencia
Your life is always filled with choices. You may have a pessimist’s view an a self-defeated complain about your low self esteem or you may decide to take the optimist’s route and start to change.
Optimism has been linked to positive mood , good Mental Health , protects against Depression and even helps freedom from trauma.
Optimists also tend to experience less stress than pessimists. Because they believe in themselves and their abilities - high Self confidence and Self-Esteem - they expect good things to happen. They see negative events as minor setbacks to be overcome.
What makes an optimistic?
- Optimists expect the best , for them defeat is just a temporary setback.
- They focus on and plan for the problem at hand.
- They change their point of view by using positive reinterpretation - to reinterpret a negative experience in a way that helps them to learn and grow.
- They won’t say: “things will never get better,” “If I failed once, it will happen again” an so on.
- They see opportunities instead of obstacles and if they fall, they will stand up.
Pessimists are likely to react to stressful events by denying that they exist or by avoiding dealing with problems. Pessimists are more likely to quit trying when difficulties arise.
Some simple changes in your thinking pattern
Here are some tips to help you change your point of view .
- Stop blaming yourself and everything that happens. Stop blaming other people and see problems in a whole new light
- Try not to judge your problems as permanent, they are not and you can change them.
- Overcome the Victim Mentality.
So why not be an optimist and change your point of view ? when you do this you become more proactive and less dependent on others for your happiness. Your self esteem will improve and you will find yourself not controlling or manipulating. You will draw people naturally toward you because your optimistic view of the world will be contagious and influence those around you.
Develop powerful optimism . Those who share optimism are generally accepted while those who are pessimistic are treated unfavorably.
The victim mentality is a self-defeating pattern which does one of two things, or more commonly both together. The victim mentality causes you to think that you cannot make the changes in your life that you desire to make because of others, for reasons that you cannot define, mysteriously "have it out" for you and wish you ill will, and thus they do things to set you back, harm you emotionally, etc. Find out more about victim mentality
