Mental health is important not only in your childhood but also in your adulthood because is the source of your self esteem. Mental health According to Medicine plus is how we think, feel and act as we cope with life. It also helps determine the way we handle stress, relate to others and make choices.

Therefore, mental health is a balance that has to do with three key aspects:

  • How we think and feel about ourselves , is determined in your chilhood and the collective unconscious.
  • How we think and feel about others , will have an impact on how we see ourselves.
  • The ability we have to cope with life in general greatly influenced by our worth.

The way we cope with life is directly related to thoughts and feellings about ourselves and our mental health. Our level of self esteem will determine the way we handle stress, our relationship with others and how we make choices.

People with low self esteem have bad thought about themselves , they do not handle stress easily and have conflicting relationships with others . People with a healthy self esteem have good thoughts and feelings regarding themselves . They handle stress in a healthy way and have healthy relationships with others.

As M. Scott Peck says: The feeling of being valuable - 'I am a valuable person'- is essential to mental health and is a cornerstone of self-discipline.

The way we make choices is influenced by our level of self esteem that is determined by our mental health. Making poor choices means that we don't think we are worthy, we think that we cannot do something and so on. Making good choices that support us means that are feeling deserving and we think we can.
