In this article I would like to talk about setting goals. This is a habit that all successful people have. It is one that will help you in building self esteem and confidence.
I have noticed in my life that when I am clear about what I want and I set a specific goal, everything seems to come to me easily and with almost no effort. But when I am full of doubts and my intentions are unclear, even if I do manage to set a goal I'm unable to reach it.
But first, let me tell you why setting goals is so important
- A goal set a certain attainment clear and bright in your mind.
- Keep you motivated and build your confidence and self esteem-- because you know what you are going for.
To set goals and achieving them will prove to you (and therefore to your subconscious mind) that you are successful and, in return, this will boost your self confidence and how you feel about yourself, your self esteem.
Setting Goals: Techniques
Nothing is more important in goal-setting than being clear about what you desire to achieve or have. If you feel confused about this, or if you are full of doubts, you will never achieve what you want. - Once you are clear about what you want, write it down in positive and specific language. Instead of writing, "I am going to work out more", write, "I am going to work out four times per week". Do you see how the second option is so much more specific and defined than the first one? It gives you something definite to achieve, not an airy idea to dream about.
- Once you have decided on what your goals are, stick to them. Make it one of the absolute most important things in your life to meet those goals.
- Keep track of your goals and record what you have achieved, so that you can see how far you've come; and when you have achieved your goal, you must reward yourself.
Some methods to motivate yourself
- Put up pictures or posters with motivational messages in your office, room or workspace.
- Read inspirational quotes on a daily basis, they will help you to stay motivated..
- Purchase and read books on building self esteem and confidence.
Conclusion
Setting goals, and demanding of yourself that you meet or exceed those goals, is the key to success in life. Each goal you set can be shorter or longer term.
Some goals are daily or weekly, while others are yearly and still others are 10 years in the future. But they are what you aim for, like an archer aiming for the bull's eye of a target. Always remember: if you aim at nothing, that's exactly what you will hit.
